Shelburne's Doors Photo Calendar Contest
As part of recognizing the heritage of the buildings within the Town of Shelburne, the Heritage Committee is holding a photography contest that will capture the beauty of the four seasons and the doors on homes and buildings within the Town of Shelburne as residents see them. All Town residents over the age of 13 are invited to submit photographs showcasing doors within the Town of Shelburne throughout 2023. The top 12 photographs will be used to produce a 2024 calendar which will be made available for sale in late-2023. The contest will run from October 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023.
Photo Contest Terms and Conditions
- To enter, complete the entry form online. There is no entry fee. Do not parcel mail entries.
- This competition will run until 23:59 on August 21, 2023. Entries must be received by this time. Entries made after this point will not be considered. The Town of Shelburne and the Heritage Committee takes no responsibility for lost entries.
- The contest is open to those aged 13 and older who are residents of Shelburne, and all photo entries need to be taken in Shelburne, ON. All photo entries must include the location in Shelburne where the photo was taken as well as the property owner’s name and contact information if not the photographer. Entries are not limited per person.
- Entries may be colour or black-and-white digital photographs. Borders frames, text or other graphic treatments including content alteration of digital files is not permitted. Winners will be required to submit original material (high resolution files) for reproduction purposes, so that winning pictures can be published. Digital entries can be uploaded electronically as .jpeg, .png, .gif, or .pdg filetypes at clerk@shelburne.ca . Digital files should be at least 1.5 mb in size.
- Each photographer is eligible to win, at most, two entries for this calendar contest.
- Professional and semi-professional photographers (or any photographers who earn money selling their photographs) are eligible and welcome to enter.
- Photographs should not contain close-ups of any individual(s) or which photographs otherwise make it easy to identify an individual.
- The names of the winners, and photographs are scheduled to be published in Late-November 2023.
- Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not redeemable for cash.
- By submitting photos via the online form or email, the photographer grants the Town of Shelburne the right to publish the photographers winning entry along with the photographer’s name in a future Town of Shelburne new release celebrating all contest winners. The photographer will receive no compensation for such publication. Winners also agree that without further payment, their winning photograph entry may be used in print or electronic form to promote future Town of Shelburne photo contests as well as advertising and promotional materials, its website, exhibition, and commercial products within the Town of Shelburne. The Town of Shelburne will not be required to seek any additional approval in connection with such uses. It is the responsibility of the contestant to ensure that publication of the photographs by the Town of Shelburne raises no legal claims. The photographer must own all rights to any photographs entered in this contest.
- With regard to any photograph submitted to this Contest, the owner of the photo’s copyright retains all copyright. In the event copyright of any photograph submitted by an eligible entrant belongs to a minor, permission to enter the photo in the Contest, reprint, publish, or otherwise reproduce the images, must have been obtained, in writing, from the child’s parent or guardian prior to entry of the photograph in the contest.
- No purchase is necessary; however, you will need an internet connection. No refund may be claimed for expenses incurred in participating in the contest, including in relation to the use of the internet.
- The Town of Shelburne and the Heritage Committee reserves the right to exclude any entries which are believed to be inappropriate, fraudulent, or based on misconduct.
- Town of Shelburne employees, Council members or committee members are not eligible to enter the contest.
- The Town of Shelburne reserves the right to cancel the contest for any reason whatsoever without further notice.
- By participating in the Contest, entrants hereby release and hold harmless the Town of Shelburne from any and all actions charges, claims, costs, damages, demands, liabilities, losses, suits, proceedings, costs and expenses pertaining to the entrant’s participation in the contest.
- By participating in the Contest, entrant represent and warrant that they have read and understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
- The chances of winning a prize will depend on the number of eligible photographs received and the evaluation of the photographs by the judging panel. Winners will receive no compensation, credit or prizing other than as disclosed in these Terms or Conditions or otherwise provided at the sole discretion of the Town of Shelburne Heritage Committee. Prizes are not transferable; no prize substitutions or equivalents are permitted, except by the Town of Shelburne Heritage Committee at its sole discretion. In all cases, the Town of Shelburne Heritage Committee reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value for any of the contest prizes.
Eligibility
The Town of Shelburne's Doors Photo Calendar Contest is open to any photographer who lives in the Town of Shelburne. Only the photographer has the right to submit a photograph. Prizes will be awarded to the photographers.
Judging
Entries will be judged by the Heritage Committee. The decisions of the judges are final. Winners will be notified by telephone, parcel mail and/or e-mail.
By submitting the online entry form, the Photographer consents to the entry of his/her submission and agrees to abide by the contest rules.
Privacy Statement
This submission will collect personal information as defined under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This information is collected under the legal authority of the Municipal Act, 021, S.O. 2001 c.25 as amended. This information will be used and maintained by the Town of Shelburne solely for the administration of the Town of Shelburne Heritage Committee, Shelburne's Doors Photo Calendar Contest.
