Dog Licences

License My Dog

If you own a dog within the Town of Shelburne, you are required to license them each year.

Pet licensing in Shelburne is managed by DocuPet Inc. Visit  shelburneon.docupet.com to license your dog and learn more about their Lost Pet System and local DocuPet Rewards Program that are included with your dog license.

Purchase or renew a Dog License 

Purchasing a license ensures that your dog is in compliance with the Animal Control By-law

General rules include:

  • a dog must wear the tag on its collar at all times
  • all dogs are required to be licensed within 7 days from the date of acquisition
  • dog licenses are valid for one year from the date of purchase or renewal
  • a fine may apply if your dog is not licensed

The animal control by-law was enacted to ensure the health and safety of residents and their dogs.

  1. Go to the Docupet Shelburne website
  2. Docupet will send all current dog license holders a sign-in code in April 2024.
  3. Follow the instructions to either buy or renew a dog license.
  4. Docupet accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Debit or Discovery card.

If you need accessibility accommodations, or don't have reliable access to a computer or the internet, you can buy or renew a dog license in person at the Shelburne Administration Office (Town Hall) Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the office is closed daily 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
