The following social services are offered within our area (Dufferin County):

Shelburne Employment Resource Hub

The Shelburne Employment Resource Hub is located in the Mel Lloyd Centre at 167 Centre St. and is open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Employment Resource Hub provides:

  • Computers, photocopiers and fax machines that you can use
  • Internet access
  • Career search support
  • Resume and cover letter writing support

Georgian Career and Employment Community Services can help you in your Career search by providing:

  • Interview preparation
  • Career postings
  • Career search support for immigrants
  • Resume and cover letter development
  • Workshops and events

Education and training

Consider upgrading your education and skills to help with your Career search. The following programs are available in Shelburne:

Contact North offers student support for online college, university, indigenous institute and school board classes from across the province. This allows students living in rural and remote areas to access education. You can participate in classes using web conferencing and receive full technical support through Contact North.

The Upper Grand District School Board offers a Skills Upgrading program that allows you to build your skills in reading, writing and computers. This can open up future education and employment opportunities.

Food bank

The Shepherds Cupboard Food Bank provides emergency food services. Based in the Mel Lloyd Centre at 167 Centre St. the food bank is open on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In order to access our services, you must sign a consent form and complete a checklist to make sure you are eligible for assistance.
