The Town of Shelburne issues two property tax bills each year — an Interim Bill and a Final Bill. Each bill includes two installment due dates, for a total of four payments annually.
We encourage residents to mark these dates on their calendars and ensure payments are made on time to avoid penalties.

The following options are available for making property tax payments to the Town of Shelburne.
The Town of Shelburne is pleased to offer e-billing for property tax bills — a convenient, secure, and environmentally friendly way to receive your bill.
With e-billing, your property tax bill is delivered directly to your inbox in PDF format, making it easy to access, save, and print whenever you need it.
Please note: If an e-bill is undeliverable due to an invalid or inactive email address, your enrollment in the program will be automatically cancelled. Be sure to provide a valid and regularly monitored email address.

If you wish to return to paper billing, simply fill out the e-billing cancellation form.
You can make paying your taxes easier by setting up a pre-authorized payment system. There are three options to choose from by having the monies directly withdrawn (debited) from your Bank account.

The 12-month pre-authorized payment plan offers a convenient way to manage your property taxes by spreading payments evenly throughout the year. Monthly payments are automatically withdrawn from your bank account, helping you stay on track and avoid late or missed payments. Benefits:

Installment Payment Plan |
The Installment Payment Plan allows you to pay your property taxes in four scheduled installments throughout the year. To avoid penalties or interest charges, please ensure payments are made on or before the due dates. 2025 Property Tax Due Dates:

Pay Your Property Taxes Online with a Credit Card
The Town of Shelburne offers a convenient way to pay your property taxes online using Visa or Mastercard through our secure payment provider, Paymentus. You can also make a payment over the phone by calling 1-855-973-1933.
Note: When paying your property taxes using paymentus you will pay a 1.75% convenience fee to paymentus
You can pay your property tax bill through telephone or internet banking with most major financial institutions. It’s a secure and convenient way to stay on top of your payments.
Your 19-digit roll number appears on your tax bill and looks like this:

You can also make in-person payments at most bank branches.
You may submit post-dated cheques to the Office. Cheques will be processed on the date written on the cheque.

Cheques can be dropped off at the Office during business hours or placed in the secure after-hours drop box located at the employee entrance.
If a cheque is not honoured by your financial institution, a $45.00 service charge will be added to your account.

Penalties and Interest on Late Property Tax Payments
To avoid penalties or interest charges, your property tax payment must be received by the Town of Shelburne on or before the due date.
Late payments are subject to penalty and interest charges as set out in the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Town’s Municipal By-law. In accordance with Section 345 of the Municipal Act, 2001, we calculate penalties and interest on the first day of each month.
Please note: Penalty and interest charges cannot be waived by the Treasurer or any Town staff.
