Artistic Expression occurs when the artist seeks to depict not only objective reality, but rather the subjective emotions and responses to objects and events.
In this exhibition, the 14 members of Southern Ontario Visual Artists (SOVA), present their view of different subjects to evoke positive thought and reaction from the public in this exhibit entitled As the Artists View It.
The SOVA artists are all professional artists involved with various galleries, but as they are long-time friends and enjoy a successful working relationship, they exhibit artwork as a group up to five times a year.
We hope you enjoy this creative exhibit and to know more about our group, you can visit our website southernontariovisualartists.com

LYNNE SCHUMACHER, OSA, CFS, SOVA
Lynne Schumacher studied commercial art at Central Technical School in Toronto, but decided that painting landscapes were a better fit for her personality. Many hours were spent in study at portrait and life drawing sessions to improve her skills at expressing moods in her work. Her journey has taken her from art shows like Toronto City Hall Art in the Park to McMichael to The Artist Project.
Currently, her work can be seen at the Art Gallery of Ontario and various commercial galleries. Her work has been purchased for many corporate and private collections. She has received many awards for her very realistic nature paintings. The People’s Choice award is the one that she finds most satisfying as it is the public who pass judgement about the quality of the work and who eventually will purchase the pieces.
