Shelburne Economic Development is partnering with CLAC to bring a construction Bootcamp to Shelburne. The Bootcamp will help prepare and create employment opportunities for adults and youth in the Skilled Trades and fill an employment gap for employers within our region/community.

About CLAC Bootcamp

CLAC has developed a unique training program to help individuals gain the skills they need to get hired in the construction industry.

Start your career today with CLAC’s Bootcamp training program

Program open to all age groups 18+ and over

 

Our program includes three weeks of in-class, online, and hands-on training followed by an eight-week paid job placement. It is geared toward people with little-to-no experience in the skilled trades.
You will learn about construction tools and equipment, construction-oriented math, how to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards, and more. Plus, you will earn several mandatory safety certificates.

 

To assist students in taking this program, we offer:
  • Needs-based financial assistance for childcare, accommodation, and transportation
  • Up to 26 weeks of wrap-around career-based support
  • Employability skills, upgrading, and job search assistance
  • Tool kit and personal protective equipment

Employers Wanted!

We are looking for employers to participate in the program, Employers are eligible for a 50% wage reimbursement (up to $528/week for the first 8 weeks).

Graduates of the program will obtain:
  • Construction health and safety foundations
  • Construction tools and equipment
  • Job-site communication skills and conflict management
  • Construction-oriented math skills and measuring and layout skills
  • How to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards and more...

Participants will also earn mandatory safety certificates, including:

  • Working at Heights, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms, WHMIS, and more

Additional program supports include:

  • Employability skills, upgrading, and job search assistance
  • Needs-based financial assistance toward childcare, accommodation, and transportation
  • Up to 26-weeks of wrap-around career-based support throughout training and work placement
