Proclamation

Mayor Wade Mills on behalf of Council proclaimed April 22, 2025 as Shelburne Rotary Day. Read the Shelburne Rotary Day Proclamation. A flag raising will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 10:00 am in Jack Downing Park, 140 Main Street East, Shelburne Ontario.

Report from the Chief Administrative Officer

Verbal Update - Ice Storm from March 30, 2025

Council received an update from the CAO on progress and cleanup efforts form the ice storm on March 30, 2025. More information will follow including expenses related to the storm.

Presentation from the Shelburne & District Fire Department

Fire Chief Dave Pratt reviewed with Council the Levels of Services for the Shelburne & District Fire Department and the provincial regulation requirements for 2026 and 2028.

Report from the Director of Legislative Services/Clerk

Request from Resident for an Exemption to the Animal Control Bylaw to Keep a Falcon/Hawk

Council received a report from the Director of Legislative Services/Clerk regarding the request for an exemption to the Animal Control Bylaw for the keeping of a Falcon/Hawk in a residential area. Council approved the request subject to conditions and oversight. Additionally, the resident will not be allowed to train, hunt or allow the Falcon to fly freely within the Town of Shelburne boundary.

Sikh Flag Raising Request – Sikh Heritage Month

Council received and approved a request for a flag raising in recognition of Sikh Heritage Month. The flag raising will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 10:00 am in Jack Downing Park, 140 Main Street East, Shelburne.

Communications

Ontario News Release – Ontario Proposing to Expand Strong Mayor Powers to 169 Additional Municipalities

Council discussed the inclusion of the Town of Shelburne in the Strong Mayor Powers being expanded by the Province of Ontario effective May 1, 2025.

Upcoming 2025 Council Meeting Dates 

April 28, May 12 (virtual) & 26, June 2 (virtual) & 23, July 14 & 28, August 25, September 8 (virtual) & 22, October 6 & 27, November 10 & 24, December 8.

Meetings commence at 6:30 p.m.
