Council Highlights – February 23, 2026

Reports 

Report P2026-03

Council received and approved Report P2026‑03 (subject to conditions) from the Town Planner regarding a request for a variance to the Sign By‑law for the new commercial building at 801 Ojibway Road.

Report P2026-04

Council received and approved Report P2026‑04 (subject to conditions) from the Town Planner regarding a request for a variance to the Sign By‑law for 407 Owen Sound Street.

Report CAO2026‑01

Council received Report CAO2026‑01 and authorized the Mayor and Clerk to execute the revised Memorandum of Understanding dated January 26, 2026.
The 1991 Memorandum of Agreement between the Town and the Library Board will be rescinded upon completion of the new MOU.

Report FS2026‑01

Council received Report FS2026‑01 from the Treasurer outlining the statutory remuneration and expenses paid to members of Council for 2025.

Report FS2026-02

Council received Report FS2026‑02, including the 2025 Development Charge Schedule.

Report FS2026-03

Council received and adopted the updated Water & Wastewater Collection Policy as amended. 

Council approved updates to Report FS2026‑03 the Town of Shelburne’s water and sewer collection policy. With these changes, the Town will no longer issue Final Notices, and residents are encouraged to use their regular statements to monitor any outstanding balances. Water service will also no longer be disconnected due to non‑payment. Instead, any account more than 90 days overdue will be transferred to the associated property tax account twice a year in June and December prior to the issuance of new tax bills.

Presentation

Council received a presentation from the Shelburne Curling Club, which was accepted as information.

Communication

Council discussed and gave support through resolution for communication #3 Correspondence from Dufferin County regarding Support for the Town of Orangeville's resolution regarding Bill 21 - Protect Our Food Act.

Council discussed and gave support through resolution for communication #6 Correspondence from the Town of Plympton-Wyoming regarding Enhance School Bus Safety.


Upcoming 2026 Council Meeting Dates

March 9 & 23, April 13 & 27 (Virtual), May 11 & 25, June 1 (virtual) & 22 (Virtual), July 13 & 27, August 24, September 14 & 28, October 5 and December 14.

Meetings commence at 6:30 p.m.
