COVID 19 Update July 10
COVID-19 Update from Mayor Wade Mills July 10, 2020
Ontario is reporting only 116 new cases within the past 24 hours which brings our cumulative reported provincial totals to 36,464 cases, 32,155 resolved cases, and 2,710 total reported deaths. Locally within the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health region, we have seen one new case reported within the past 24 hours and our cumulative total is now at 497 cases. Currently, there are 23 active cases within the health unit’s jurisdiction area, and one hospitalization. There have been no new cases within the past 24 hours in Dufferin County and our cumulative case total sits at 190 but only seven current active cases and no reported hospitalizations.
Yesterday, the province extended its temporary emergency orders to June 22nd. As reported earlier, the government has introduced legislation that would see some of these orders extended on a much longer-term basis and even after the official Declaration of Emergency is lifted.
We are still waiting to hear as to when Ontario will move into Phase Three of the re-opening plan but we can likely expect to hear something soon. Premier Ford did indicate today that, “It’s going to come very shortly, hopefully sooner than later.” Stay tuned.
Please enjoy your weekend and please continue to be good neighbours to each other!
