COVID 19 Update July 13
COVID-19 Update from Mayor Wade Mills
July 13, 2020
Ontario is reporting 116 new cases within the past 24 hours which brings our cumulative reported provincial totals to 36,839 cases, 32,663 resolved cases, and 2,722 total reported deaths. Locally within the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health region, we have seen two new cases reported within the past 24 hours and our cumulative total is now at 499 cases. Currently, there are 21 active cases within the health unit’s jurisdiction area, and one hospitalization. There have been no new cases within the past 24 hours in Dufferin County and our cumulative case total is 189 (adjusted down by one from Friday), with only four current active cases and no reported hospitalizations.
Today Premier Ford announced that parts of Ontario (including Dufferin County) will enter into Phase Three as of this Friday. Under this Phase, most businesses are now able to re-open and permitted outdoor gatherings will increase to 100, and indoor gatherings to 50. The social “bubbles” of 10 people will remain in place and physical distancing of 2 metres (six feet) will still apply to gatherings. Specifically included in this Phase of re-opening is indoor dining at restaurants, live performances, playgrounds, movie theatres and gyms. A much smaller list, including amusement and water parks will remain shuttered for now. It is expected that local health units will be releasing further protocols and measures that must be implemented in order promote the safe re-opening of many of the permitted establishments.
Council has a long agenda for our regularly scheduled virtual meeting tonight and I will report back Wednesday with the highlights.
Continue to be well and take care of each other!
Mayor Wade Mills
