COVID 19 Update July 6

COVID-19 Update from Mayor Wade Mills

July 6, 2020

Ontario has reported only 154 new cases within the past 24 hours and no new deaths. These new numbers bring our cumulative reported provincial totals to 35,948 cases, 31,426 resolved cases, and 2,689 total reported deaths.

Within the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health region, we have seen four new cases reported bringing the new cumulative total to 491 cases. Currently, there are 34 active cases within the health unit’s jurisdiction area, and two hospitalizations. Within Dufferin County, we have seen just one new case which brings the County’s cumulative case total to 189. Dufferin County still has nine current active cases but no current reported hospitalizations.

We are still awaiting news as to when the province will begin Phase Three of the re-opening plan. The Premier did announce today that his government will be introducing legislation to fast-track construction projects aimed at highway and transit infrastructure projects. The aim is to help jump start the economy and we will wait for further details on this.

Please be well and I will report back Wednesday.

Mayor Wade Mills
