COVID-19 Update from Mayor Wade Mills May 14, 2021

There were 2,362 new COVID-19 cases reported in Ontario today which is down again from last week.  Province-wide, our cumulative reported totals are now 504,533 cases, 468,033 resolved cases, and 8,432 reported deaths. It is also being reported that there are currently 1,582 patients hospitalized with the virus with 777 currently in ICU and 560 on ventilators.

Within the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health region, we have seen an additional 19 new cases reported since yesterday. We currently have 314 active cases throughout the region. There are currently 60 health unit residents in hospital. Within Dufferin County specifically, we have had 6 new cases reported within the last 24-hour period. Our current active case count stands at 97 for the county. There are 27 Dufferin County residents being reported as in hospital. Within the Town of Shelburne, it is reported that we have 23 residents who are currently positive which thankfully is down over last week.

As announced yesterday, the current provincial stay-at-home order has now been extended to June 2^nd.

It was also confirmed this week that Caravaggio IDA in Shelburne has been selected to start administering the Pfizer vaccine on Monday, May 17^th. Anyone 18 years of age and older can register at https://caravaggioida.medmeapp.ca/schedule
