Greenwood Park and KTH Park Ice Rinks - Now Open
The ice rink located at Greenwood Park and KTH Park are now open. Please read the below rules for the outdoor skating rink.
Hockey can be played on designated time slots which are:
8:00am – 9:30am
12:00pm- 1:00pm
4:00pm- 6:00pm
As always the outdoor rinks may close during unexpected warm weather in the winter months so please be mindful of the conditions of the outdoor rinks.
Outdoor skating rink rules
COVID-19
COVID-19 safety precautions include enhanced passive health screening for patrons prior to participating and increased signage to remind residents of COVID-19 safety parameters, traffic flow, and recommended hygienic practices. Non-medical masks and face coverings are recommended when a two-meter distance cannot be maintained.
Please follow the rules to ensure a safe and pleasant skating experience.
- Maintain a two-metre distance from others not in your household, at all times.
- Masking is highly recommended at all times.
- No hockey sticks, pucks or other team sports are permitted on unboarded rinks.
- Use the rink at your own risk. You voluntarily assume all risk associated with any sport or event. The Town of Shelburne does not accept responsibility for any related risks or injuries.
- It is highly recommended that all skaters wear a CSA-approved helmet while on the ice.
- Stay off the rink during inclement or mild weather.
- Children seven years and under must be actively supervised by a responsible person 16 years or older.
The following activities are not permitted at outdoor rinks. These activities could result in you being asked to leave the facility.
- Hockey is permitted during designated times.
- Carrying children on the ice (including baby carriers).
- Dogs are not permitted on outdoor rinks. Salt from paws damage the ice surface.
- Smoking or loitering on the ice or near the facility.
- Bringing food or drinks on the ice.
- Accessing the park or rink between Dusk and Dawn.
- Using alcohol or drugs on Town property.
- Rough play, speed and figure skating, and multiplayer games (such as tag and races).
- Foul language or inappropriate behaviour.
Wheelchairs, strollers and skating aids
- Only E-Z gliders are permitted as an aid.
- Babies must be secured in their strollers.
- CSA-approved helmets are required for people in wheelchairs and strollers.
- Clean sand and salt off wheels before getting on the ice.
