Proclamation Crossing Guard Appreciation Day March 23

Mayor Wade Mills, on behalf of the Council of the Town of Shelburne, do hereby proclaim March 23, 2022 as School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day in the Town Of Shelburne.

Proclamation

Whereas: The Ontario Traffic Council School Crossing Guard Program Committee, of which the Town of Shelburne is a member, has proposed that Crossing Guard Appreciation Day in all participating municipalities across the Province be declared on Wednesday, March 23, 2022; and

Whereas: each and every school day, dedicated individuals, whom we call crossing guards, commit their attention and energy to assisting pedestrians across busy streets as they arrive and depart from school and work; and

Whereas: the Town of Shelburne and Shelburne Police Services Board places a top priority on pedestrian safety; and

Whereas: crossing guards play a critical role in ensuring the safety of pedestrians; and

Whereas: crossing guards must have a deep sense of responsibility, a great deal of character, an excellent relationship with children, and the dedication necessary to brave inclement weather; and

Whereas: the Town of Shelburne and Shelburne Police Services Board are proud of our crossing guards and commend them highly for their continued commitment to the safety and well-being of pedestrians; and

Whereas: we invite all citizens to recognize these individuals for their commitment to the safety of pedestrians;

Therefore: I, Mayor Wade Mills, do hereby proclaim March 23, 2022 as School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day in the Town Of Shelburne.
