Hot Mix Asphalt Resurfacing of Municipal Roadways 2022

The Town of Shelburne runs an annual resurfacing program in order to maintain our road infrastructure and address road conditions.

The resurfacing of municipal roadways within the Town of Shelburne will be underway starting September 11, 2022 by The Murray Group Ltd.

The resurfacing will include milling and removal of existing roadway material, and supply and placement of new asphalt.

Traffic impacts can be expected during the construction period.  There is also a potential for noise associated with construction to be heard during this time.

Project Schedule 

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 11, 2022, at approximately 7:00 A.M. and completed tentatively on Friday, October 7, 2022. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Residents should be aware that this schedule is subject to change due to weather impacts and other unforeseen construction delays.

Please be aware that temporary full road closures may occur during key components of the construction project, but care shall be taken by the contractor to allow full access to local traffic.

Scope of Work

The work to be completed under this project includes:

  • Milling of existing top course asphalt pavement
  • Adjustments to maintenance holes and catch basin structures
  • Hot mix asphalt resurfacing
  • Full depth resurfacing, ditching and driveway culvert replacements (Industrial Road only)

Traffic Impact

Residents can expect temporary road closures to through traffic at the project locations over the construction period.  This includes not having access to your driveways for short durations during critical components of the project (milling and paving). Flag persons will be on site at every location to ensure traffic safety is always maintained.

At the end of each working day, you will have full access to your homes or businesses. The Town of Shelburne advises residents to:

  • avoid parking overnight on the roadways under construction.
  • remove vehicles from the roadways prior to commencement of this proposed work.
  • drive with elevated caution at reduced speeds through all construction zones.
