PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION WORK
Sandhill Court Reconstruction Project
The Town of Shelburne is scheduled to begin construction work on Sandhill Court. Minor traffic delays and inconveniences can be expected throughout the duration of the construction project.
PROJECT LOCATION
The Sandhill Court Reconstruction project will affect the entire municipal right-of-way of Sandhill Court and periodically extend into the intersection of Robert Street. Construction material storage and site trailer areas will be located on the west-bound lane and north boulevard of Robert Street, on either side of Sandhill Court.
SCOPE OF WORK
The work to be completed under this project includes:
- Full depth removal of existing roadway.
- Removal and replacement of all existing municipal services including, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and watermain.
- Extension of new municipal service lines (storm, sanitary, water) to individual properties.
- Placement of new concrete curb and gutter.
- Placement of new granular base and asphalt surface material.
PROJECT SCHEDULE
Project mobilization is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at approximately 8:00 A.M. Construction works is scheduled to begin Monday October 17, 2022 and continue to December 19, 2022. Residents should be aware that this schedule is subject to change due to weather impacts and other unforeseen construction delays. Given the nature of the work being weather dependant, some items of the project may require to be completed in the spring of 2023.
TRAFFIC IMPACT
Residents are to be aware that Robert Street is to be closed to through-traffic from Park Avenue to Jelly Street for the duration of the project, but local traffic will have continued access. Detour and road closed signage will be erected prior to the commencement of any construction work. A copy of the detour plan has been attached to this notice for your reference.
Driveway access is to be available at the end of each working day, but access will be periodically unavailable during some stages of the project. Residents are highly recommended not to park on the roadway of Sandhill Court or Robert Street during this construction period to avoid delays at the beginning of working days. Residents should also be advised to drive with additional caution at reduced speeds through all construction zones.
MUNICPAL SERVICES AND UTILITY IMPACTS
Residents are to be aware that there will be temporary shutdowns during service reconnections for both water and sanitary services. Residents will be notified with a separate letter 48 hours in advance of these shutdowns which will outline its approximate timing and duration.
There will be no disruptions to utility services (hydro, gas, telecom) during construction. The Town of Shelburne does ask that residents on Sandhill Court bring their solid waste bins to the boulevards near the northwest corner of the intersection of Sandhill Court and Robert Street every Tuesday evening for municipal solid waste collection pickup. Should any resident require assistance, the Town of Shelburne and the Contractor will happily assist.
