1. Vehicles must be licensed, roadworthy, and driven by a valid driver age 18+.
2. Riding on floats is permitted only along the parade route. Children must be supervised, seated safely, and protected by railings if available.
3. Throwing of items (including candy) is strictly prohibited. Handouts may only be distributed by walkers, with organizer approval.
4. No smoking, alcohol, cannabis, or intoxication permitted in marshalling, along the route, or in disembarking areas.
5. Maximum float height: 14 feet.
6. No open flames or combustible materials. Floats with generators must carry a fire extinguisher.
7. All decorating and assembly must be completed before entering the marshalling area.
8. Each float carrying riders must have at least two supervisors walking alongside.
9. Entrants must follow all directions from police, parade marshals, and organizers.
10. The parade will proceed rain, snow, or shine — participants must dress appropriately.

• Advertising must be secondary to the holiday spirit and must adhere to signage rules.  Any advertising and promotion must be family friendly.
• Music should be Christmas-themed and at a reasonable volume.
• Lights are encouraged, especially as the parade finishes in darkness.
• The organizer reserves the right to refuse entries that do not comply.

Acknowledgement

By signing this agreement, the authorized representative confirms that:

• They have read, understood, and will ensure compliance with the Parade Rules.
• They have communicated these rules to all participants within their entry.
• They sign on behalf of their organization, group, or family, and acknowledge that this waiver applies to all participants in their entry.

Waiver, Release, and Indemnification

In consideration of participating in the Shelburne Santa Claus Parade:

• The Entrant releases and forever discharges The Town of Shelburne, the Shelburne Business Improvement Area (BIA), and their Council members, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents from any claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising from participation in the Parade, except where caused solely by negligence of the Town or BIA.
• The Entrant agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Town of Shelburne and BIA against any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal costs) arising from their participation, including claims made by third parties.
• The Entrant accepts responsibility for ensuring their participants’ conduct and safety before, during, and after the Parade.
