Statement regarding Mass Shooting in Buffalo, NY

At the May 30, 2022 Council Meeting,  the Shelburne DEI Committee requested that their recommended Statement be approved and issued regarding the mass shooting that took place in Buffalo, NY.

Please see the statement below from the Town of Shelburne regarding the mass shooting that took place in Buffalo, NY:

Our American neighbours experienced a tragic event on May 14th in Buffalo, New York and there is little we can do collectively to ease their suffering and loss, other than to bear witness to their pain and honour those tragically lost.

Acts of senseless violence rooted in extremism remind us that the call to address anti-Blackness and antisemitism in all its forms is ever-present and requires vigilance.

Tragedies such as this have become all too common. Let us all take this opportunity to recommit to our shared responsibility to work toward justice and with-it peace.

We grieve in solidarity and send our sincere condolences to the entire Buffalo, NY community.
