Statement Regarding US Mass Shootings

On May 30, 2022 The Town of Shelburne Council discussed the US mass shootings and condemned the ongoing gun violence in the United States. Council provided their support of a recent statement by the Dufferin County DEI Committee regarding US Mass Shootings:

"In recent weeks, our neighbours in the US were devastated by tragic events of gun violence. Events that were            motivated by hate and racism took the lives of countless innocent children and adults.

As a united community, Dufferin County and the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Community Advisory Committee condemn and stand firmly against any act of hate and racism. We know that racism and hate also exist here in Canada. We need to be vigilant in tackling systemic racism and discrimination that embolden people to carry out violent acts of hate.

Every Canadian deserves to live in a society where they can reach their full potential, regardless of their background.

Our hearts are with the families who lost loved ones and we grieve in solidarity with them."
