Ways That you can Support Local Businesses
- Buy a gift card for later. Look on the company’s website and social media accounts for details
- Skip the refund and take a rain check. Consider taking a credit for the future instead of asking for a refund
- Commit to future work or project when the business reopens
- Shop (local) online. Many local shops and vendors run online shops. Look for them on social media accounts or check their website
- Look for virtual classes
- Get takeout or delivery. Many restaurants are offering this service and some with a discount

About the #Support-The-Burne Initiative
#SupportTheBurne is an award-winning marketing program (2020 Economic Development of Canada Marketing Award). The program was developed by Shelburne Economic Development, to support our local businesses during the height of COVID pandemic. The program is designed to encourage residents to invest locally, and increase our local businesses visibility, build connections, and increase prosperity.
Shelburne Economic Development along with our partner Country105 FM and the Towns social media assets (Facebook, website, twitter and billboards), collaborated with local businesses to develop marketing materials which were promoted throughout the Town, at no costs to local businesses, to advocate/advertise and increase awareness.
