Town of Shelburne Announces Reopening of Natasha Paterson Memorial Park Playground
After more than a year of dedicated work, the Town of Shelburne is proud to announce the grand reopening of the Natasha Paterson Memorial Park Playground on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Located at 340 Gordon Street, the revitalized park now features a vibrant, inclusive play area designed with accessibility and community in mind.
The upgrades were guided by the 2023 Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which highlighted the need to centralize playground equipment, improve safety surfaces, and enhance accessible connections throughout the park. In response, the town has transformed the space by consolidating the play structures, adding multi-use trails and pathways, and installing rubberized surfacing for barrier-free access.
Open Space Solutions, awarded the tender in October 2024, brought the project to life with a unique design that emphasizes inclusive play for children of all ages and abilities. The new playground includes exciting features such as:
- Accessible ramps and transfer stations
- Sensory panels and a non-verbal communication board
- A universal carousel and suspended nest
- Swings with both accessible and seatbelt-equipped seats
These improvements reflect Council’s Strategic Priorities, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and reinforcing Shelburne’s identity as a sustainable, engaged, and livable community.
Residents are invited to visit the enhanced park, enjoy the new amenities, and celebrate this milestone in Shelburne’s continued investment in recreation and inclusivity.
