WELCOME BACK - FAMILIAR FACES WILL SOON BE PATROLLING THE STREETS OF SHELBURNE IN OPP UNIFORMS

The 12 former uniformed officers of the Shelburne Police Service (SPS) hired by the OPP officially graduated on March 5, 2021 from the Experienced Officer Training Program, at the OPP Academy in Orillia.

A very simple event on March 5, 2021 was held outside, in compliance with COVID-19 outdoor gathering restrictions of a maximum of 25 people, at Town Hall to welcome back the twelve former Shelburne Police Services officers as OPP officers.

In attendance was Mayor Mills and Council, representatives of the Shelburne Police Board, and representatives of the OPP command staff.

Mayor Wade Mills, “For the twelve of you who are proudly returning today in your new uniforms, I sincerely hope that you will find long, happy and fulfilling careers with the OPP. You are now supported by one of North America’s largest deployed and most respected police services and you will undoubtedly benefit from the opportunities, the resources, and the quality of leadership that come with that.

Today is a day of celebration and each of you should be filled with pride given the accomplishments that you have achieved. Your families, your friends and your community share in that pride and we are overjoyed to have you back in Shelburne.”

Since February 18, 2021 at noon, the OPP's Dufferin Detachment has been patrolling the Town of Shelburne and providing coverage of calls for service under Detachment Commander Inspector Terry Ward.

The Town extends congratulations to the twelve returning officers, as they begin a new chapter in their policing careers with the OPP.
