How to register?

1. Click register now, visit our NEW online Registration System

2. Click the "Create an account" feature in the top right hand corner. Please note that you must create an account for a guardian over 18 years of age before adding your child.

3. Add your family members who you are registering for programs.

4. Find the programs you are looking for and register!

Dufferin County offers a childcare fee subsidy to eligible families between 0-12 years of age. For more information on this program. please visit https://www.dufferincounty.ca/county-services/early-years-child-care/child-care-fee-subsidy/

How to register

To apply for Child Care Fee Subsidy in Dufferin County, please follow the process below. The CDRC Refund Policy applies to families approved through the Child Care Fee Subsidy Program.

 

Step 1: Apply online for Child Care Fee Subsidy in Dufferin County at Children Services Ontario

If you have already applied for, or previously have received child care fee subsidy in Dufferin County, please email childcarefeesubsidy@dufferincounty.ca to reactivate your file. If you are currently, already approved for Child Care Fee Subsidy during the school year, please contact your Community Services Worker, Early Years and Child Care Division to determine Summer Camp eligibility.

 

Step 2: Once approved, the Community Services worker, Early Years and Child Care Division at Dufferin County Community Services will send the CDRC confirmation that the applicant has qualified for a Child Care Fee Subsidy. When the CDRC receives confirmation, a Summer Day Camp Registration Request form will be sent to the family to complete from CDRC. All CDRC Summer Day Camp information will be posted available to view on Tuesday March 18, 2025. Registration Request forms will be sent beginning Tuesday March 18 once all information is available to view online.

 

Step 3: When the Child Care Fee Subsidy confirmation letter is received and the registration request form is completed, the CDRC will follow up via email confirming camp dates and complete the registration process. Please note that spaces are not guaranteed as camp registration is a first come first served basis. Once registration is complete and payment has been made, your child's placement will be confirmed in the CDRC Summer Day Camp. CDRC will add campers to the waitlist if space is not available at the time of registration.

 

Step 4: Get ready for camp! Check your emails regularly to ensure you do not miss communication from the CDRC!

Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex (CDRC): 200 Fiddle Park Lane, Shelburne ON 

Our summer day camps are packed with fun and exciting activities! The CDRC summer day camp will focus on outdoor play, crafts, games and our very own camp swim. The daily camp schedule is subject to change and detailed information will be shared with registrants prior to the start of camp. 

Junior Leaders 

Spend some time this summer learning skills that will last a lifetime. The CDRC Junior Leaders will begin exploring a variety of skills including leadership, teamwork, communication, problem solving through interactive/cooperative games and activities. Leaders will be introduced to basic first aid skills. Participants will have the opportunity to swim as apart of this program. This program must have a minimum 10 participants.

This program includes:

  • CDRC Junior Leader Shirt
  • Daily swimming
  • Friday Pizza 
  • Basic First Aid Training
  • Lunch

Leaders in Training

Back by popular demand, the CDRC Leaders in Training program. Participants will spend one week training where they will learn to develop leadership skills, learn about planning programs, resume building and much more. Once training is complete, participants will complete a minimum 1 week placement in the day camp setting. Participants will select which week they would like to complete their placement and all hours can go towards their community service hours. All  participants must be comfortable in a pool setting. This program must have a minimum 10 participants.

This program includes:

  • CDRC Day Camp Volunteer Shirt
  • Pizza lunch (day to be determined)
  • Friday Ice Cream Social
  • Basic First Aid
  • Safeguard (Supervision of young people at pools and waterfronts) Training

Junior Lifeguard Camp

Learn what it takes to be a lifeguard! This week will introduce campers to basic rescue and first aid skills while focusing on the importance of teamwork in the pool setting. Please note: all participants MUST pass a swim test prior to the start of camp. 

Additional summer camp information

The 2024 CDRC summer day camp runs from 8:00am - 5:00pm. Participants are to be dropped off between 8:00-9:00am and to be picked up between 4:00-5:00pm. Before and after care is available from 7:00-8:00am and 5:00-6:00pm daily but must be arranged and paid for at the time of registration. Our day camp program begins at 9:00am and concludes at 4:00pm.

All campers must be program ready to attend the CDRC Day Camp Program. To be program ready, each participant must be able to confidently answer yes to the questions below.

  1. Child is able to take direction and instructor from CDRC staff and participate in all planned activities.
  2. Child is successful at doing daily activities (such as using the washroom and changing themselves) without a known guardian.
  3. Child feels comfortable interacting in a group environment to the best of their ability.
  4. Child can participate in a way that is safe for themselves and others.

Campers should wear comfortable clothing that is weather appropriate. It is highly recommended that all campers wear closed toed shoes and bring sandals/flip flops for water activities. 

In order to ensure your child is comfortable throughout the day, you should pack the following items. Please ensure all personal belongings are labelled.

  • Lunch (Nut free lunch), lots of snacks
  • Refillable Water bottle
  • Bathing suit
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen: Please send your camper to camp with sunscreen already applied
  • Hat
  • Appropriate footwear (running shoes, flip-flops or Crocs for swimming)
  • Extra change of clothes

Please leave all valuable personal items at home. The Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

 

Please ensure your camper does not bring the following items with them to camp:

  • Money: Campers are not permitted to use the vending machines or gumball machines during the camp program. Parents/guardians must accompany the camper if purchasing an item from the vending machine.
  • Electronics including cell phones and electronic games.
  • Toys and trading cards (pop its, stuffed animals, bouncy balls, Pokemon cards).
  • Inappropriate objects.

 

The CDRC is thrilled to continue to offer Camp Swimming Lessons to our summer day camp participants! You camper must be registered for the 2 weeks of camp that align with the 2 weeks of swimming lessons. Campers will be brought down from the day camp program to attend their swimming lessons and picked up by their leaders once the less is over.

All parents/guardians are required to sign their child in and out of camp daily. Only individuals who are listed on their designated camper pick up list will be able to pick up campers. Photo ID will be required at each pick up.

All children must be a minimum of four years old (birth year 2014-2020) or a program's specified minimum age requirement by the first day of the program. All children must be able to take care of their own bathroom needs.

We expect our programs to fill up quickly, however we encourage you to place your child's name on the waitlist as people may withdraw from the program or additional spots may be added.

We strive to integrate all campers into our summer camp programs. To help us best support your camper's experience at camp, we ask that any additional needs be disclosed during registration. All campers that require one to one support at school must have that same level of support at camp. 

Please note that the CDRC is unable to provide one to one support for campers, however we welcome volunteers or support workers provided by the family in this capacity.

The County of Dufferin offers a Child Care Fee Subsidy program to eligible families who have children between 0-12 years of age. For more information, please contact 519-941-6991 ext.2223 or email childcarefeesubsidy@dufferincounty.ca.

The CDRC is proud to continue its use of the ePACT Network. Please ensure that your campers profile is complete and up to date prior to arrival at the CDRC day camp program. Campers will not be permitted to attend camp without this information.

A Parent/Guardian Information Package will be sent out prior to the start of camp.

Rules and regulations

We want to ensure that our Summer Day Camps provide a safe and fun environment for your child. As a result, all participants and staff must abide by the Town’s R Zone policy of respectful behaviour. To accommodate those with allergies, Summer Day Camps are a peanut-free zone.

Payment policies

Full payment is due at the time of registration. HST is additional to fees where applicable. A 2.95% processing fee will be applied to online credit and debit card payments.

What happens if I miss a day?

If you miss a day, you will not be rescheduled or refunded, it is always best to check the dates and times that have been scheduled for your camp.  Refunds will not be issued due to weather conditions or pool fouling.

Can I receive a refund if I need to withdraw from a program or it is cancelled?

Refunds requested 10 business days prior to the program start date will receive a full refund, less a $35 administration fee. Refunds requested within 10 business days of the program start date will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued within 48 hours of the start of the program. A refund will be issued for all programs cancelled by the CDRC. Withdrawal from a program for medical reasons will be considered on an individual basis and may require a medical note. Please allow 4 - 6 weeks to process a refund.

Non-Resident Fee

All programs offered by the CDRC are subsidized by municipal taxes from our funding municipalities, which include: The Town of Shelburne, The Town of Mono, the Township of Amaranth and the Township of Melanchthon. To keep the cost low for residents who contribute to the CDRC, through their municipal taxes, non residents are subject to an additional 6% fee per program, membership, or facility rental as applicable. A non-resident is defined as anyone who does not pay property taxes directly to the funding municipalities.  The CDRC reserves the right to request proof of residency.
