If your camper does not want to swim, they will participate in alternate outdoor activities. This swim is supervised by certified Lifeguards. All camp staff are required to be in the water for duration of the swim supervising campers. Camp staff are provided with training on water safety supervision prior to the start of the summer. The CDRC is fortunate to also have some lifeguards on our camp staff team!

All campers must complete a swim test with our certified Lifeguards in order to swim without a lifejacket. Campers ages 4-5 must wear a lifejacket for the duration of our swim time.

Yes, campers are separated into groups based on their age. This is for the safety and enjoyment of all campers.

If your child is displaying signs of illness, please do not send them to camp for the consideration of other campers and staff. If your child becomes ill during the camp day, a guardian will be required to pick up the child within 30 minutes.

If your child will not be attending camp on a day that they are registered for, please call the CDRC at 519-925-2400 and leave us a message. An email can also be sent to cdrccamp@shelburne.ca notifying staff that the camper will not be in attendance.

Specific camp groups will be participating in off site bus trips. Parents will receive information prior to the trip day with any additional details needed.

You can register your 6 year old in whichever age group you would prefer for them to be with. If they have just turned 6, we recommend you register them with the 5-6 year old group.

Campers moving into the 6+ age group will participate in more complex activities, including large group games. Activities will be catered to the age group as a whole.

The CDRC recognizes that some families prefer their child to be with a certain age group of children, therefore we have left this decision to each family.
