$92,500 OTF Grant From Ontario Government Helps Bring New Basketball Court to Fiddle Park

Shelburne, ON – As part of the Fiddle Park Grand Opening on Sunday, representatives from the Town of Shelburne gathered at Fiddle Park to celebrate the completion of a new outdoor basketball court made possible through a $92,500 Capital Grant from the provincial government's Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

“The Town of Shelburne continues to find new ways to create dedicated and engaging spaces to bring our community together,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon. “Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s support, the new outdoor basketball court at Fiddle Park will increase access to free inclusive recreation opportunities and support active lifestyles throughout the Town of Shelburne.”

The new basketball court is one of the key features of the newly redeveloped Fiddle Park and provides a dedicated space for youth, families and residents of all ages to stay active, participate in organized programming and enjoy casual recreation. The investment supports healthier lifestyles while creating another welcoming gathering space within the community.

"The Town of Shelburne is extremely grateful for the Ontario Trillium Foundation's investment in our community,” said Town Staff. “This new basketball court creates more opportunities for residents of all ages to be active, connect with one another, and enjoy everything the revitalized Fiddle Park has to offer. We look forward to seeing this space become a hub of activity for years to come."

The basketball court complements the extensive redevelopment of Fiddle Park, which now features a new playground, pavilion, community garden, walking paths, enhanced seating areas and improved public gathering spaces. Together, these amenities provide inclusive opportunities for recreation, community events and social connection for years to come.
