A Glimpse of Summer II Brings Cottage Country to Shelburne Town Hall Art Gallery
The Shelburne Town Hall Art Gallery is pleased to welcome back artist Wendy Wilson with A Glimpse of Summer II, running from May 4 to May 22, 2026. This marks the second consecutive year that Wilson has exhibited her work at the gallery, inviting visitors once again to experience the warmth and beauty of Ontario’s beloved cottage country.
Through rich colour and expressive brushwork, Wilson’s paintings capture the essence of Georgian Bay and Muskoka landscapes towering white pines shaped by wind and time, shimmering waters, and the rugged rock formations of the Canadian Shield. Each piece reflects her deep personal connection to these regions, inspired by childhood summers spent at her family’s cottage and her current life on an island in Georgian Bay.
Originally trained in music at Western University, Wilson spent many years as a vocal and instrumental music teacher before her creative journey led her toward painting. Her artistic transition was influenced by set design work for school musicals, where she developed a love for scenic storytelling. Today, she works in oil, acrylic, and mixed media, creating paintings that blend realism with a touch of whimsy.
Wilson’s work has been featured in galleries, shops, and publications throughout Ontario, including The Villager Magazine and De Ferrari Home coffee and gift shop. Her paintings are held in private collections across the world.
The Shelburne Town Hall Art Gallery invites the community to enjoy A Glimpse of Summer II, a vibrant celebration of nature, memory, and the enduring spirit of Ontario summers. Admission is free.
