Alcohol Regulations at Public Events Remain Unchanged in Shelburne

Supporting safe, community-focused events and local businesses

The Town of Shelburne will continue its current approach to alcohol service at outdoor public events, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for residents, visitors and event organizers.

Following the Province’s introduction of a bring-your-own-beverage (BYOB) framework, the Town has confirmed it will not be adopting this option at this time. Existing bylaws, policies and Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) requirements remain in effect.

Alcohol is not permitted at outdoor public events, parks or other Town public spaces unless it is being served and consumed within a licensed or approved area.

This approach helps:

  • Maintain public safety
  • Support local businesses and vendors
  • Ensure consistent and well-managed events

Residents and visitors attending festivals and events are encouraged to enjoy beverages from licensed areas or nearby local establishments. Supporting local businesses plays an important role in sustaining community events and enhancing the overall experience.

Event organizers who wish to include alcohol service must continue to follow the Town’s existing approval processes and obtain all required permits.
