E Scooters Not Allowed on Municipal Property in Shelburne
E‑scooters are not permitted for use on municipal property in Shelburne, including sidewalks, parks, trails, or roads.
The Town is sharing this information to help ensure residents are aware of the current rules, particularly as e‑scooters become more common among youth and families.
Town staff do not issue fines related to e‑scooter use; they will continue to focus on public education.
Enforcement of these regulations falls to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act. Like bicycles, rules of the road apply where applicable, and using an e‑scooter where it is not permitted may result in fines.
For more information, please read Report LS 2026-11 from the Director of Legislative Services/Clerk regarding the regulatory and enforcement overview of electric scooters (e-scooters), as presented at the Council meeting on May 25, 2026.
