Shelburne Raised Flag for Brain Injury Awareness Month
The Brain Injury Awareness Flag was raised today June 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Jack Downing Park, 140 Main Street East
The park’s dedicated awareness flagpole was used for this ceremony, while the Canadian, Ontario, and Town flags remain in place.

The Town of Shelburne will mark Brain Injury Awareness Month with a community flag-raising ceremony on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Jack Downing Park.
The event is part of a province-wide initiative led by the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA), encouraging municipalities to raise awareness for one of Ontario’s most overlooked health issues. Across the province, communities are coming together this June to recognize the impact of brain injuries and show support for those affected.
More than half a million Ontarians are living with the effects of brain injury, with over 170,000 concussions occurring each year. Despite its prevalence, brain injury is often described as an “invisible” condition, with many individuals facing daily challenges that may not be immediately apparent.
Awareness matters because it shapes how people respond
Shelburne residents are invited to attend the ceremony, learn more about brain injury, and show their support for individuals and families affected by it.
Flag raising is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. June 1, 2026 at Jack Downing Park, 140 Main Street East, Shelburne.
