Mobile Food and Refreshment

You need a mobile food and refreshment business license in order to operate a refreshment vehicle or stand within the Town of Shelburne. This includes, but is not limited to, a chip truck, food cart, ice cream bicycle, ice cream truck, mobile lunch truck and any mobile food and refreshment stand.

Mobile Food Vendor License must be renewed annually.

Should a new sign be required for your restaurant, you must apply for a Sign Permit.

Application Details

Please include the following information and documentation with your application:

Master Business License
Letter of permission to operate on private property, as applicable
Name and location of the restaurant
Name and contact information of the owner
License fee
$2,000,000 certificate of Insurance naming the Town of Shelburne as an additional insured

Inspection compliance report from the Shelburne & District Fire Department (all publicly used spaces) - $200 inspection fee – Call 519-925-5111 to book an inspection
Approvals from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health

TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority) certificate for Mobile Food Service Equipment (MFSE) which includes:

Only operate a refreshment vehicle in zones as outlined in the Zoning By-law
Have liability insurance for $2 million and name the Town of Shelburne as an additional insured
Have your mobile vendor license available at all times for inspection
Keep the refreshment vehicle clean and sanitary and meet all public health requirements
Ensure all food is wrapped and sold in single-serve packages or disposable containers and napkins are provided for customers
Provide a garbage receptacle that can hold all waste generated by the refreshment vehicle or stand, and remove the garbage receptacle before leaving
