#Support-The-Burne
#Support-The-Burne is an award-winning marketing program (2020 Economic Development of Canada Marketing Award). The program was developed by Shelburne Economic Development, to support our local businesses during the height of the COVID pandemic. The program is designed to encourage residents to invest locally, and increase our local businesses visibility, build connections, and increase prosperity.
Shelburne Economic Development along with our partner Country105 FM and the Towns social media assets (Facebook, Instagram, twitter, Town website and digital billboards), collaborated with local businesses to develop marketing materials which are promoted throughout the Town, at no costs to local businesses.

We host a series of workshops and networking events throughout the year. Check our business events calendar or subscribe to the Shelburne Economic Development Newsletter to receive a monthly edition with information about current Economic Development news, events and programs.

In The Spotlight
In the Spotlight is a monthly article, in the FYI Newsletter, profiling a small business (fewer than 100 employees) registered with the Town Shelburne. The business can be any type of business, in any industry.
In-the-spotlight provides recognition and appreciation of local businesses. The articles will inspire and showcase registered Shelburne-owned and operated small businesses (fewer than 100 employees).
Signing up is easy and free. Simply fill out the online form and upload any applicable photos and or documents.

Who is eligible for the spotlight program?
Business must obtain a license and be registered with the Town Shelburne - Business Licence Registration
Space is limited, we cannot guarantee an article for all interested parties.
What advertising avenues will businesses be featured in?
These avenues include, but are not limited to:
- Shelburne social media (Facebook, X and Instagram)
- Shelburne website
- FYI e-Newsletter
- Electronic Billboards
How will businesses be selected for advertisement?
The In-the-Spotlight news articles will feature 12 different businesses per year, (one for each monthly edition of the FYI e-Newsletter) on a first come first serve basis.
The Shelburne's Economic Development department will draft an article using the information, photos and logo provided. A proof will be emailed to the business to check over prior to being used.
Businesses also have the option to draft their own article.
How do I sign up, and what is the cost?
Signing up is easy and free. Simply fill out the online form and upload any applicable photos and or documents. If there are any question Shelburne Economic Development will contact you, to double-check the details or information provided.
Have Your Say Shelburne is an online tool where you can find out about Town projects and share your ideas and opinions. This is part of the Towns commitment to proactively bring people together, to collectively shape our community and strengthen the place we call home.

Community Futures South Georgian Bay is a one-stop business resource for new and expanding businesses that offers business loans up to $250,000, a coaching/mentoring program, business counselling, and support for community economic development.
The DBOT is a membership organization that champions a robust voice for the business community in Dufferin County.
Dufferin County administers a wide array of services to its residents and businesses.
Dufferin County Canadian Black Association (DCCBA)
Dufferin County Canadian Black Association (DCCBA) aims to provide leadership for the continued development and enhancement of the Black community through civic engagement, education, programs and services, and advocate for equity and well-being for the Black community in Dufferin County.
Futurpreneur has fostered the entrepreneurial passions of Canada’s diverse startup founders ages 18-40 since 1996. Futurpreneur is the only national non-profit organization that provides young aspiring entrepreneurs across Canada with the loan financing, mentorship and resources they need to start or buy a business.

Georgian College's Career and Employment Community Services offer employers a variety of resources to help you find talented Career candidates. This includes, free Career postings, candidate screening and placement and financial incentives to offset the cost of training.
Innovation Guelph is building prosperity for community wellbeing by providing mentorship and business support services that help innovative ventures of all sizes start, grow and thrive.
Shelburne Business Improvement Association (BIA)
The Shelburne BIA promotes businesses and supports improvement projects in downtown Shelburne. The host events, conduct advertising programs and promote the area as a pleasant place to shop, work and live.
Small Business Enterprise Centre
The Small Business Enterprise Centre provides guidance and support to start-ups and small businesses in their first years of operation. They provide consultations, financial advice, registration assistance, business seminars and networking opportunities.
