The By-law Enforcement Policy provides a formal policy and procedure governing the handling of municipal by-law complaints by the municipality and to ensure standardized, thorough, prompt and courteous receipt, processing, investigation and resolution thereof.
The Animal Control By-law provides guidelines for keeping animals and community members safe. Review the By-law to learn about dog licences, leashes, animals at large, exotic pets and the standards of animal care.
Cannabis use is regulated by the Municipal Cannabis By-law as well as the Smoke-Free Ontario Act. Within the Town of Shelburne, you are not allowed to smoke or vaporize cannabis in any public space. You can smoke or vaporize cannabis on private property or if you have documentation that allows you to smoke cannabis for medical reasons.
The Clean Yards By-law is a by-law to provide for the maintenance of private property in a clean and clear condition within the Town of Shelburne.
The Election Sign By-law is a by-law which manages and regulate election signs and election campaign advertisements including third party advertising within the Town of Shelburne
The Fireworks By-law regulates the sale and use of fireworks in the Town of Shelburne. The Fire Works By-law will set out the provisions for selling fireworks, clarify the dates and times when fireworks can be used, establish classes of fireworks, clarify the types of fireworks that may be sold, used, and stored by residents and business owners. The regulations included in the bylaw are in keeping with the Federal, Provincial Acts and Regulations and are within the jurisdiction of municipal governments.
The Noise By-law outlines quite zones and times within the Town of Shelburne. The purpose of this By-law is to ensure that residents are not disturbing each other with loud noises during certain times of the day. For a full list of quit zones and times, please see the By-law.
The Parking and Traffic By-law regulates parking and driving on roads, streets and highways within the Town limits. This includes speeding, parking on shoulders, parking on private property and pedestrians.
The Property Standards By-law regulates the maintenance and occupancy standards for all properties in the Town of Shelburne. If any building on your property doesn't meet the minimum standards, you may need to remove all structures, debris and refuse from the property.
The Sign Installation by-law regulates the size, use, location and maintenance of signs within the Corporation of the Town of Shelburne pursuant to the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter M 45, as amended or replaced.
The consolidated Zoning By-law regulates the use, location, size and height of structures. You will need to review this by-law before you open a business, or complete a new building development or renovation to make sure that your property is zoned for the appropriate land use.
