The Mandate of the Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee is to advise Council on the following identified priorities:
- Identifying, Promoting and Conserving all Heritage Properties with the Town via use of Municipal records, archived materials and the Land Registry Office to determine the historical and/or Architectural value of a building and/or property to help promote the historical and architectural features within the Town of Shelburne.
- Develop/Promote existing and new Heritage Resources available in coordination with the Town and MOD. (Expanding Walking Tours, Plaque Programs etc.)
- Develop Plans and Programs and Fundraising activities that Promote the Arts within our Cultural and Heritage Assets utilizing Town amenities: i.e. Grace Tipling Hall to encourage more Concerts, Plays, Movie Nights, Art Shows and other forms of Cultural Entertainment.
- Encourage more cultural activities within the Downtown including Jack Downing Park and the Town Hall with events focused on the Arts: such as more Outdoor concerts in the Park Series and New Events throughout the year, inclusive of existing events held during Easter, Halloween and Christmas, etc.
- Encourage more interaction with other community arts groups in Dufferin County to help develop and promote more artistic programs and activities and new events within the Town (i.e. Streams, Headwaters Arts, etc.)
- Ensure coordination and preparation via Staff assistance to prepare any upcoming grant applications related to Arts and Culture and secure funding for budget purposes.
