Accountability and Transparency Policy

The Accountability and Transparency Policy provides a set of standards to help guide decision-making by your local government. This policy focuses on general operations and council meetings to ensure they are open to members of the public.

By-law enforcement policy

The By-law Enforcement Policy provides a formal policy and procedure governing the handling of municipal by-law complaints by the municipality and to ensure standardized, thorough, prompt and courteous receipt, processing, investigation and resolution thereof.

Customer Service Policy

The Town of Shelburne Customer Service Policy outlines how Town staff should behave when interacting with residents, community partners and any member of the public. This includes guidelines for in-person, phone, email and social media interactions, as well as how to address different types of complaints.

Freedom of Information

Municipal Grant Funding Policy

Our Municipal Grant Funding Policy governs how grants are awarded to community organizations and agencies. The policy provides details about funding eligibility, the types of funding available, how to apply for funding and how the selection process works.

Municipal Procurement Policy

The Municipal Procurement Policy provides direction to all municipal departments, municipal staff and officials to acquire goods and services.  

R Zone Policy – Respect and Responsibility

The R Zone Policy outlines appropriate behaviour for all members of the public when using Town property, facilities and programs. The policy also includes information about how to respond to an incident, report an incident and appeal an incident report decision.

Social Media Policy

The Social Media Policy outlines responsibilities and standards for the establishment and administration of corporate social media sites.

Sports Fields and Outdoor Facilities Allocation Policy

The Town of Shelburne encourages and promotes participation in sports to the overall benefit of the community. This Sports Fields and Outdoor Facilities Allocation Policy outlines the criteria by which decisions regarding the allocation of available facility space and amenities will be made to address the current sport facilities, new user groups, and allocate minimum requirements of facility rental time at all municipally owned, leased, or controlled facilities.

Stop Sign Installation Policy

The Stop Sign Installation Policy establishes a consistent and standardized process to evaluate the request for the installation of a stop sign within the Town of Shelburne. The policy is intended to provide a procedure for the review and approval or denial of a stop sign request.

Tax Collection Policy

The Tax Collection Policy outlines how to collect property taxes effectively and to ensure that all taxpayers are treated fairly and equitably during this process. The policy outlines the municipal fee taxes that are not provided by the due date. It also provides information about the proceedings around municipal tax sales.

Water and Sewer Collection Policy

The Water and Sewer Collection Policy outlines a formal procedure for collecting past due water and sewer usage charges, as well as interest fees. This policy will help to manage the aging of our municipal water and sewer infrastructure and will keep our administration costs low.
