Voters' Information

Your vote matters! In the Town of Shelburne 2026 Election, you will be able to vote by internet or telephone for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors, and School Board Trustee.

The Voting Period for the 2026 Municipal Election runs from 10:00 am on Friday, October 16, 2026 to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Voters in the Town of Shelburne will once again be able to cast their vote from the comfort of their home, or anywhere they can access the internet or telephone 24 hours a day. The Election Centre will be available during the voting period to provide assistance.

The Province of Ontario releases a guide with information to voters for the 2026 municipal council and school board elections. 

School Board Voters

Details on school board voter eligibility are below:

  • be a supporter of the English-language public district school board; or
  • not be a supporter of any board, nor have qualified him- or herself as an elector for a separate or French-language school board in the election.

  • qualify as an elector for the English-language separate district school board; or
  • be a supporter (or be the spouse of a supporter) of the English-language separate district school board.

  • be a French-language rights holder (see ss. 23(1) and (2) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms for criteria) who must:
    • qualify as an elector for the French-language public district school board; or
    • be a supporter (or the spouse of a supporter) of the French-language public district school board.

  • be a Roman Catholic and
  • a French-language rights holder (see the Charter for criteria ) who must:
    • qualify as an elector for the French-language separate district school board; or
    • be a supporter (or the spouse of a supporter) of the French-language separate district school board.
