Loose Leaf Collection

Loose Leaf Collection – Schedule & Zones

Loose leaf collection takes place every fall. Maps and zone schedules will be uploaded in the fall to help you find out when your neighbourhood is scheduled for pickup.

Please note:

  • The schedule is approximate and may change depending on the weather.
  • Collection is focused on older neighbourhoods with mature boulevard trees.
  • Be sure to rake your leaves onto the boulevard next to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the first day of your scheduled collection week.

General Information

Do: have your leaves raked onto the boulevard by 7 a.m. on the first day of your scheduled collection week

If you missed your scheduled loose leaf collection or have additional leaves afterward, you have two options:

  1. Drop-Off Option
Take your yard waste (loose or bagged) to:
    Dufferin Transfer & Recycling Facility
    473051 Dufferin County Road 11, Orangeville, ON L9W 5L7

  2. Curbside Yard Waste Collection
Set your yard waste out for Dufferin County’s bi-weekly curbside collection.

    • Collection begins Monday at 7:00 a.m. and continues throughout the week.
    • Your yard waste may be collected on a different day than your regular garbage pickup.
    • For the full schedule, please refer to the Dufferin County Waste Guide.

Composting

Collected leaves can be slowly added to your home compost. They break down into useful organic material that can be added to home gardening projects. Leaves, although bulky when first raked, will compost well over winter. Make sure the leaves are moist. It also helps to mix in some fruit and vegetable scraps.

Mulching

Try mulching leaves with a lawn mower or other device to reduce the volume of the leaf pile for home storage or composting. Also simply mowing your leaves, in a dry condition, on your lawn adds organic material directly to your lawn.
